Nemesis eH2O is supplied as a ready-to-use solution of 500ppm stabilised hypochlorous acid. This was the concentration employed in all of the Nemesis eH2O certification tests and in the efficacy evidence provided to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) to achieve active substance approval under the Biocidal Products Regulation (528/2012) Parts 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5.
Hierarchy of Microbial Resistance to Disinfectants
Microorganism | Aqualution (Nemesis eH2O) BS EN tests
Most Resistant -- > | Spores (eg C. difficile) | BS EN 13704:2002 |
Mycobacteria (eg M. tuberculosis) | BS EN 14204:2012
Non-Enveloped Viruses (eg Norovirus, Polio) | BS EN 14476:2013
Fungi (eg Candida albicans) | BS EN 13697:2001
Bacteria (eg MRSA, VRE, Acinetobacter) | BS EN 1276:2009; BS EN 13697:2001; BS EN 1656:2009
Most Susceptible -- > | Enveloped Viruses (eg Coronavirus, HIV, Influenza) | BS EN 14476:2013 |
Adapted from Spaulding, 1957 and Rutala and Weber, 2014 |
The table above shows that enveloped viruses (such as that which causes COVID-19) are particularly susceptible to antiviral disinfectants.
All Nemesis eH2O products are tested to rigorous international standards and Nemesis eH2O is fully authorised under the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR, Regulation (EU) 528/2012) for Parts 1 to 5 (Part 1: Human hygiene, Part 2: Disinfectants and algaecides, Part 3: Veterinary hygiene, Part 4: Food and feed area, Part 5: Drinking water).
Nb. Following Brexit, access to lists of approved disinfectants is available via the Health & Safety Executive website.
